Featuring jessLEARN Inc.’s “100%” Fan & Alumna:
“Recently, I was able to receive a final mark of 100% in both my grade 11 and 12 IB French courses, as well as a Level 7 in my final IB French Oral Exam, the absolute highest level. I owe it all to Jessica!!”
I started learning French with Jessica Wu in grade 3. I am now going into my senior year of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program, making it about seven years learning with her with a tiny break in between. Being in her class for such a long time, I can truly say that Jessica is unparalleled as a tutor. She challenges the monotony of the conventional way of teaching found in schools. Her lessons are precisely tailored to each and every student - taking their strengths and weaknesses into account.
Jessica has a gift for teaching. She can turn even the hardest concepts into something digestible for beginners of the language. Her dedication, determination, devotion, enthusiasm and creative approaches inspire students to thrive in the language, and be the best French speakers they can be.
I’ve enjoyed each and every one of her classes, as they are never dull - she is a fun-loving teacher who knows how to make kids laugh and learn at the same time, fostering a love for language learning amongst the students. I once saw French as just another subject I had to take at school - but now I see it as so much more. I see it as a treasure I possess that will help me in every stage of my life.
Through the years of my French lessons with Jessica, I’ve presented French speeches at both regional and provincial levels, and more recently, I was able to receive a final mark of 100% in both my grade 11 and 12 IB French courses, as well as a Level 7 in my final IB French Oral Exam, the absolute highest level. I owe it all to Jessica!!
Take it from me, someone who had never spoken a word of French before coming to jessLEARN Inc. It IS possible to attain an extremely high level of proficiency in French. All you need is the right person to help and guide you along your language learning journey. And Jessica Wu is who I whole-heartedly recommend to be that someone.

“ My time at jessLEARN Academy with Jessica Wu as my English Tutor and Coach was a fantastic experience that taught me about not only the English subject, but also about myself and the world around me.
Quite often, I hear how some parents only seem to seek numbers on a report card, rather than practical lessons about life in general. I found that Jessica was able to offer both. I often complain about the lack of practicality and application within the school curriculums at the high school and elementary level, but I could not say the same about my tutoring sessions with Jessica. Discussions revolving around fairly one dimensional assignments could always evolve into much more interesting and meaningful talks about human behaviour, reality, and beyond. Answers may not be given straight away from her, and I was often told to think about the answers for myself, helping me to better learn and grow. This extends far beyond simply passing a course in school, as these discussions carry on into the adult world. Of course, more complex assignments would become much easier to do on my own as a result of these in-depth talks, which certainly boosted my independence and self reliance. I was constantly pushed by Jessica to breach my limits and go beyond what was expected of me, which has helped me tremendously with work ethic and self discovery.
Despite this, lessons with jessLEARN and Jessica were almost never boring. No matter what kind of shoulder sagging assignment or painful project, it was always fun to make fun of circumstances and intricate details. If that wasn’t possible, we could always ‘make fun of’ other assignment requirements, rather than our own. Even while discussing AP English questions, we could humour ourselves over two men crossing swords over a girl. This is not to say that the fun detracted from the learning, however, as it was always related to the task at hand. Even if it wasn’t, it would still be meaningful literally or as a small break to return to the assignment with a refreshed state of mind.
This is not to say, however, that my experience was completely flawless. At times, there were some downs that could somewhat affect the effectiveness of the lessons. Obviously, during my own down times it became much more difficult for me to pay attention, which is not the fault of Jessica. Jessica occasionally shared life’s challenges as well. There is no perfect human being who can maintain a flawless facade, and that makes her much more relatable and familiar. It becomes much easier to talk to her, and as a result, there is no element of the student and teacher being in different worlds.
Overall, I felt that my time as jessLEARN Academy was a wonderful learning experience which gave me the chance to better myself as a student and person. Although I was quite a poor English student during my early high school days, Jessica has helped me turn around in order to confidently walk into university with the skills necessary to go beyond simply succeeding. By the end of my high school career, I had managed to achieve well into the 90s in all of my English courses since grade 9, and I was able to be accepted into both of my top 2 universities, including my number 1 choice of university with a scholarship thanks to her coaching and mentoring.
My tutoring experience not only satisfied the grade expectations from my parents, but also my parents’ desire for me to develop the life skills necessary to live a full life. And although the tuition fee may be higher in comparison to other schools, the benefits I gained from my experiences with Jessica were certainly incomparable to any other school, tutoring business, or learning institution.”
